Prayer Needed
Could you all be in prayer for our Ministry? We are not sure how we are going to react but knew this day would be coming soon.
With the new governmental implimentation of the TWIC system it appears that we will no longer be able to pick Seafarers up from the docks and bring them back to the International Ministries Center. We will not be allowed to set foot on the docks.
A seafarer may be picked up from the front gate by us but will have to pay $40 to get off the port and $40 to get back on. ***These guys can not afford that cost*** To even get off the ship to make a phone call on port they will have to pay $80. Can you believe that? These guys will be away from home for avg 10 months and they will not be allowed to call home if they don't have $80.
The only way we can get around this is if we rent or lease a property on the docks which will cost $700/month minimum.
So what do we do with our current building that is also used by the Internationals in the community? Do we just wait for the seafarers to come to us and hope they can afford to the $80 plus the cost of a taxi?
Or can we somehow convince the governing body to allow us to change their laws and allow us to come on for free to pick up the seafers the way we have been doing currently?
We have until December 30 to figure out how we will react to these new laws.
Please be in prayer!!! Or this will be the shortest stint a US/C2 missionary will have had:-(
