Orange Beach

Well, we managed to move from Mobile in between raindrops last Saturday to Orange Beach, Alabama with the help of some great friends who took several hours out to help us. When we arrived in Orange Beach, there were summer missionaries waiting to help us unload. What a blessing! God continues to faithfully look after us in all things!

Currently, we are in a room upstairs in a house. After the summer, we will be able to use one of the bedrooms downstairs that some of the summer missionaries are currently using.

There is a big backyard which the dogs are really loving and a big deck with picnic tables and two swings. Lots of chances to enjoy the shade. The summer missionaries have been keeping the dogs VERY busy throwing the ball and playing with them. Adelaide and Mick seem to have taken the move very positively and are settling in nicely.

This summer, Jarrod and I are cooking for the summer missionaries. It has been a little bit of a challenge trying to figure out exactly how much to cook for 10-12 people and what to do with the leftovers. But, so far -- everything has worked out and no one has complained! :) Jarrod and I are enjoying cooking for them and they seem to enjoy the food. The association is re-embursing us for what we spend (for those of you who are wondering).

A big THANKS goes to Gracewood Baptist Church!!! When their youth came down last fall, they bought us a charcoal grill and we have already used the grill NUMEROUS times for the summer missionaries. We really appreciate Gracewood for their generosity and kindness!!

So - our first week in Orange Beach is behind us. We are learning the area and we are so thankful for our GPS - without it, we'd probably be lost on the side of the road or something! We are still unpacking and re-sorting things.

After the summer missionaries leave around August, Jarrod and I will really start delving deeper into the International Ministry that does not quite yet exist in Orange Beach just yet. We have been told that there are many Internationals who live in Orange Beach year round. Jarrod and I will discover where they are and try to get the churches excited and interested about working with Internationals. Pray for us as we meet Internationals on a daily basis. Pray that God will give us direction and the words to say to encourage the churches in the area to become more involved in reaching Internationals for Jesus.

Since leaving Mobile, some of Jarrod's stomach issues have vanished. This is a praise and a relief. We know that God is in control of all things and we are so thankful that Jarrod is having less trouble with his stomach. Thank you for your continued prayers!

Thank you for your kind words and your encouragement. This has been a fairly easy transition for us and we are so thankful for the North American Mission Board, the Alabama State Board of Missions and the Baldwin Baptist Association for moving quickly and efficiently. Remember to pray not only for the North American Mission Board but also for your local state board of missions. They are a good group of people who are working hard and need your prayers & support.
